Nurturing Voices. Shaping Leaders.
The Young Orators (TYO) is the flagship initiative of the prestigious Peat Philips Foundation (PPF). A non-profit organization dedicated to shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Through TYO, we aim to inspire young people aged 16 to 20 to become articulate speakers, critical thinkers, and confident leaders
By participating in TYO, young orators receive hands-on training in public speaking, debate, and leadership skills. We create a vibrant platform for young people to develop both academically and personally, with real-world applications that build the foundation for lifelong success and make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
Our mission is simple but powerful: To inspire a generation of confident, thoughtful, and eloquent changemakers.
The Peat Philips Foundation is at the forefront of youth empowerment in Nigeria. With programs like TYO, the Spelling Bee, and Voices Ignite, PPF is committed to creating socially impactful platforms that enhance communication skills, promote critical thinking, and nurture leadership. Together, we build a generation ready to inspire positive change.
The registration fee for the 2025 season is N10,000 per contestant.
The preliminary rounds will be held online, where contestants will submit video-recorded speeches. Shortlisted participants will then advance to the regional competitions, and the national finalists will be selected from there.
To qualify for the National Championship, simply register online from anywhere in the country.
Each speech is scored by three separate judges, and the final score is the average of their ratings. The judges are experienced speech coaches trained in the art of public speaking.
